Calcium

Located at Group 2 and Period 4 of the Periodic Table is the element that makes you grow strong. This is Calcium.

First discovered and isolated by Humphry Davy in 1808. He used the method electrolysis with the mixture of lime and mercuric oxide and isolated Calcium

.

Calcium is also the fifth most common element on Earth. However, Calcium almost never exist on its own. It exist in minerals waiting for extraction.

As the most abundant metallic element in the human's body, average adult body has 1 kilogram of Calcium, which 99% of Calcium is in our bones and teeth. Only Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Carbon and Oxygen are more abundant in our bodies than calcium.

Which is why we are encouraged to eat calcium - rich foods such as broccoli and oranges to make our bones and teeth strong.

Besides, Calcium can also be alloyed with Aluminium, Beryllium, Copper, Lead and Magnesium to form alloys.
